Alias
Bow-Tie Antenna,
Butterfly
A type of RF antenna identifiable by its distinctive 'bow-tie' shape, formed by two triangular pieces of conductive material arranged with their vertices touching. The shape results in a wider bandwidth, or range of frequencies the antenna can operate efficiently in, compared to a dipole of equivalent length. This design provides excellent broad-spectrum capabilities, which makes the bow-tie antenna well-suited for applications requiring frequency agility or broad frequency ranges, such as television broadcasting and certain types of radar systems. Its simple structure also allows for ease of production and installation, contributing to its widespread use in various RF systems.
