Monopole Antenna

A simple yet effective type of antenna that consists of a single, straight conducting rod or wire, typically mounted perpendicularly over a ground plane. The rod or wire radiates radio frequency energy in response to the applied current, generating an omnidirectional radiation pattern in the horizontal plane. Monopole antennas are inherently half of a dipole antenna, and they rely on the ground plane to provide an image that creates the effect of a full dipole.
