2degrees is a telecommunications provider based in New Zealand. The entity began its operations on 4 August 2009, following nine years of planning. The company provides prepaid and pay-monthly mobile services, along with fixed-line phone and broadband services. The current ownership of 2degrees lies with Voyage Australia Pty Limited, making it part of the Vocus Group. Until 1 June 2022, the majority of the ownership was held by US-based Trilogy International Partners. The company's initial establishment was as NZ Communications Limited in 2001 by Simon "Tex" Edwards. In 2007, the company began constructing towers for New Zealand's third mobile network. The company changed its name to 2degrees in 2009 and initiated a roaming deal with Vodafone New Zealand. The ownership of 2degrees has seen changes over the years, with Trilogy International Partners, Communication Venture Partners, Te Huarahi Tika Trust, and KLR Hong Kong holding significant stakes at various points. As of 2017, Trilogy International Partners held a 73.2% stake in 2degrees.

2degrees 3G Network

2degrees launched its 3G UMTS network over B1 (2100 MHz) in 3rd August 2010, adding B8 (900 MHz) services in September 2011. The entire network was upgraded to DC-HSPA+ in September 2012. 2degrees announced it would close its 3G network late 2025.

2degrees 4G Network

The company commercially activated a B3 (1800 MHz) 4G LTE network in June 2014. Services were initially limited to Auckland but later expanded to Christchurch, Hamilton, and Wellington by the end of 2014. B28 (700 MHz) was added on the 26th January 2015.

On 28th February 2022 2degrees launched its 5G network, initially in central areas of Auckland and Wellington, and selected areas of Christchurch. The network was constructed in partnership with Ericsson and uses n78 (3500 MHz) spectrum allocated in May 2020.
