Africell Angola is a subsidiary of the Africell Group, a telecommunications company with a strong presence across Africa. The company was established in 2001 by US entrepreneur Ziad Dalloul, and it expanded its operations to Angola in 2021. Africell Angola's establishment followed a competitive international public tender process, and it has since become a significant player in the country's telecommunications sector. The Africell Group, which is headquartered in London, owns Africell Angola. The company was awarded a national telecommunications license in Angola in February 2021, activated the network in December 2021, and officially launched services in April 2022.
