Bakcell LLC is a mobile telecommunications company founded in March 1994 through a private-public partnership between GITB and Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan Republic. Headquartered in Baku, Azerbaijan, the company was the first mobile network to operate in Azerbaijan. It is a subsidiary of NEQSOL Holding, a multinational conglomerate with diverse investments across various sectors.
Bakcell 3G Network
The majority of the network was upgraded to 3G in November 2011 using the B1 (2100 MHz) and B8 (900 MHz) bands, and progressively upgraded to DC-HSPA+ over the following three years providing up to 42 Mbps peak DL data rate.

Bakcell 4G Network
The network received yet another upgrade in May 2015 when the company launched its 4G LTE service on B3 (1800 MHz). Only months later in October 2015 the company announced activation of LTE-A with intra-band carrier aggregation of an existing 20 MHz B3 (1800 MHz) channel with an additional 10 MHz B3 (1800 MHz) channel, advertising peak data rates of up to 225 Mbps.
