Claro is the largest mobile network operating in Colombia. Claro began providing GSM services in 2003 then as Comcel (with a history dating back to 1994), rebranding to Claro in June 2012 following its acquisition by América Móvil. Claro Colombia is a subsidiary of América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V, an international telecommunications group with operations in a range of countries throughout South America.
3G Network
The company launched 3G UMTS services over B2 (1900 MHz) and B5 (850 MHz) in January 2008 - the first operator to do so in the country. The 3G network was upgraded to support HSPA+ in November 2011.

4G Network
4G LTE services were launched in February 2014 over the B7 (2600 MHz) band, and upgraded to LTE-A in May 2018 with the addition of a further B4 (1700 MHz) carrier. The network supported peak data rates up to 286 Mbps.
