Claro Costa Rica is a telecommunications company operating in Costa Rica. The company is a subsidiary of América Móvil, a Mexican telecommunications group. Claro entered the market in 2011 following the passing of the Dominican Republic–Central America Free Trade Agreement which opened up the monopolistic telecommunications market to private enterprise. The company sits under the umbrella of América Móvil, which is one of the largest telecommunication companies globally.
