Digicel is the smallest mobile network operating in El Salvador. Operations began in September 2006 under the brand El Nuevo Digicel after the acquisition of (unrelated) mobile network operator Digicel Holdings Limited (DHL). Digicel Holdings Limited has a history dating back to the privatisation of telecommunications services in 1998.

3G Network
In October 2013 launched 3G UMTS services over the B8 (900 MHz) band. 3G service was upgraded to support HSPA+ in January 2014, which Digicel has been marketing as its "4G" service.

In February 2017 Digicel announced the rolling out of LTE over a five year period, with construction commencing mid-2017. The network reached its 114th base station in November 2022.
