Digicel Tonga is a telecommunications network operating within the Kingdom of Tonga. It is a subsidiary of Digicel, a Jamaican and Caribbean mobile phone network and home entertainment provider. Digicel was founded in 2001 by Irish entrepreneur Denis O'Brien and has since expanded its operations to 25 markets worldwide. In July 2017, Digicel increased its stake in the Tongan market by purchasing 16.6% of Tonga Cable from the government. The parent company, Digicel, remains under the ownership of Denis O'Brien.
