Epic Communications Limited, originally known as Vodafone Malta Limited, is a prominent mobile network operator in Malta, holding the position of the second largest in the country by customer base. The company was established in 1989 under the name Telecell Limited, marking it as the first mobile network provider in Malta. The company underwent a significant transition in November 2020, adopting its current name, Epic Malta, following its acquisition by Monaco Telecom.
The company has been a pioneer in the Maltese telecommunications sector, introducing numerous firsts such as the launch of 3G in August 2006, and the deployment of a 4G network in October 2013. In 2017, it introduced superfast 4.5G to the Maltese islands, further cementing its position as a leader in the industry. The company was fully acquired by Monaco Telecom SAM on 31 March 2020, following an agreement with Vodafone Group Plc in December 2019. This acquisition marked a significant turning point in the company's history, leading to its rebranding as Epic Malta in November 2020.
