Liberty Costa Rica is a telecommunications company operating in Costa Rica. It is a subsidiary of Liberty Latin America, a leading telecommunications company with operations in over 20 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. It began operations under the name Movistar in November 2011 as the national subsidiary of the Spanish company Telefónica . In June 2022, the company changed its name to "Liberty" after being acquired by the transnational consortium Liberty Latin America. The ownership of Liberty Costa Rica is held by Liberty Latin America, which is publicly traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol "LILA" and "LILAK".
3G Network
The company switched on 2G GSM services in July 2005 over the 1800 MHz band, and 3G UMTS over B1 (2100 MHz) and B5 (850 MHz) in its November 2011 launch.
