Liberty Global Inc. was established in 2005 following the merger of Liberty Media International, Inc. (LMI) and UnitedGlobalCom, Inc. (UGC). LMI and UGC were integrated as subsidiaries under the new entity. UGC, founded by Gene Schneider, had previously expanded through acquisitions, including the full acquisition of UPC from Philips by 1997. Liberty Global is a multinational telecommunications company with headquarters in London, Amsterdam, and Denver.
