Movistar Colombia is one of the largest telecommunications operators in Chile. Previously a wholly state-owned enterprise, in 2005 the company merged with international telecoms giant Telefónica and subsequently rebranded to Movistar. The company is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Colombia Telecomunicaciones S.A. ESP is a majority owned by Telefónica, S.A, with the remaining share owned by the government of Colombia.
3G Network
The company launched 2G GSM services in July 2005 over the 850 and 1900 MHz bands, and launched 3G UMTS over B5 (850 MHz) in December 2008. The 3G network was upgraded to HSPA+ in October 2012 supporting up to 21 Mbps peak DL rates.

4G Network
4G LTE services were commercially activated in December 2013 over B4 (1700 MHz) AWS after securing 30 MHz in spectrum auctions. Movistar launched VoLTE in September 2016. The network was upgraded to LTE-A (4.5G) in April 2018, advertising peak data rates up to 250 Mbps through the addition of B2 (1900 MHz) in 2C CA.
