MTN Irancell, also known as Irancell, is a significant telecommunications company in Iran. The company was officially launched on 21 October 2006, providing an advanced generation of GSM systems to its subscribers. It operates Iran's largest 2G-3G-4G-4.5G-5G mobile network, and fixed wireless TD-LTE internet services. Irancell became the first provider of 5G internet in the country, further cementing its position as a leading telecommunications provider. The ownership of MTN Irancell is split between two entities. MTN Group, a multinational telecommunications group, holds a 49% stake in the Irancell consortium. The remaining 51% of shares are held by Kowsar Sign Paniz (KSP), an Iranian company. This partnership allows Irancell to leverage the global expertise of the MTN Group while maintaining majority ownership within Iran.

    4G Network

    In November 2014 the company launched 4G LTE services initially over B3 (1800 MHz), later activating a second B7 (2600 MHz) carrier, and providing fixed wireless TDD-LTE over B42 (3500 MHz) with two 20 MHz channels. In January 2017 Irancell activated its LTE-A network which through carrier aggregation and other "4.5G" technologies demonstrated peak downlink data rates exceeding 1.2 Gbps. LTE-A Pro with 256QAM modulation has been implemented in major population centres.
