4G Network
MTN South Sudan launched its 4G network on December 3, 2020, becoming the first mobile operator in the country to introduce this advanced technology. The launch was conducted under the auspices of the National Communications Authority (NCA). The 4G network, also known as Long Term Evolution (LTE), supports higher internet speeds of up to 100 megabits per second (100 MBps). Initially, over 70 sites were launched in Juba, with a commitment to provide 100% 4G coverage in the city and plans to extend the network to other parts of the country in 2021. This launch marked a significant milestone for MTN South Sudan, setting the technology standard for 4G services and enhancing the browsing and online experience for users. The 4G network also improved the performance of multimedia applications, voice, and HD video calls, and was compatible with existing telecom infrastructure.
