3G Network

Ncell launched its 3G network in September 2010, following Nepal Telecom's introduction of mobile services in May 2007. The launch of 3G marked a significant advancement in mobile communication in Nepal, enabling faster internet speeds, video calls, and enhanced mobile services. Ncell aggressively expanded its 3G network across the country, contributing to the digital transformation of Nepal's telecommunications landscape. Despite the widespread adoption of 4G, Ncell's 3G network continued to serve mobile users in Nepal as of 2024, although the focus has shifted towards more advanced technologies.

    4G Network

Ncell's journey into 4G technology began with its participation in Nepal's first-ever spectrum auction. The company secured additional frequency in the 1800 MHz band, outbidding Nepal Telecom. This auction process, which started in 2016, faced delays due to legal interventions and Ncell's CGT case. By 2022, Ncell had committed to installing and operating 3,000 new 4G towers across Nepal, aiming to cover 95% of tourist areas, including highways and national parks. The company set ambitious targets for 4G speeds, aiming for 20 Mbps in urban areas and 10 Mbps in rural regions. Ncell's 4G network, recognized for its high-speed broadband capabilities, played a crucial role in enhancing mobile internet services in Nepal.
