Orange Luxembourg is a telecommunications company that has operated in Luxembourg since 2004. It is a subsidiary of Orange S.A., a French multinational telecommunications corporation via Orange Belgium. The Orange brand, under which Orange Luxembourg operates, originated in the United Kingdom in 1994 after Hutchison Whampoa acquired a controlling stake in Microtel Communications. The company later became a subsidiary of Mannesmann in 1999 and was acquired by France Télécom in 2000. The France Télécom company was rebranded to Orange on 1 July 2013. The mobile telephone operations of Orange were merged with the majority of the mobile operations of France Télécom, forming the new group Orange S.A.

3G Network

The company launched its 3G network in June 2007 over the B1 (2100 MHz) band. The network was upgraded to DC-HSPA+ in 2012.

    Orange commercially launched their 4G network on October 29, 2012 using B3 (1800 MHz). 85% population coverage was achieved by mid-December 2014. The network was later expanded with the addition of B1, B7, B8, B20, and B28 carriers. B28 was later refarmed to n28 5G.
