4G Network

SIMBA Telecom, under its former name TPG Telecom, began its journey in the telecommunications sector by focusing on 4G LTE technology. In December 2016, TPG Telecom was announced as the winner of the New Entrant Spectrum Auction held by the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore. The company secured 10 MHz of Band 8 and 40 MHz of Band 40 spectrum, marking its entry as Singapore's fourth mobile network operator in March 2020. SIMBA's 4G network was designed to provide high-quality mobile services with an efficient approach, offering the best value-for-money mobile plans. B38 frequency band was later added to SIMBA's network.

    5G Network

SIMBA Telecom has been actively preparing for its 5G network deployment. The company was provisionally awarded 5 MHz of 2.1 GHz spectrum for 5G services. In October 2022, SIMBA commenced a 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) trial over the n1 band, which was chosen due to its compatibility with a wide range of devices. The company planned to launch 5G Standalone (SA) and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services in the first half of 2023, targeting 60% coverage of Singapore by the end of 2023. As of 2023, SIMBA achieved 60% coverage with its 5G NSA deployment and projected to reach 95% coverage by 2026. The company aimed to roll out its 5G network island-wide by the end of 2026, despite the limited bandwidth allocated, which could potentially limit 5G speeds. SIMBA's strategic deployment of 5G services was part of its broader plan to enhance its market presence and offer advanced mobile services to its growing subscriber base.
