Somtel (سومتيل) is a mobile network operator servicing Somaliland. The company was founded in 1998 and is a publicly traded company registered in the British Virgin Islands, with majority ownership held by UAE-based MTO Dahabshiil (approx. 95%) since 2008. Somtel is headquartered in Hargisa.

4G Network
Somtel launched its first 4G LTE services in November 2014 over the B20 (800 MHz) band. The network was later upgraded to LTE-A in March 2019, adding B1 and B3 carriers and supporting peak data rates of 150 Mbps.
