Telekom Romania Mobile Communications S.A., a mobile network company in Romania, was wholly owned by OTE, which is controlled by Deutsche Telekom. The company operated under the Telekom brand and was initially launched as Cosmorom in 1999. In 2004, ownership transitioned to Greek OTE. Telekom Romania Mobile had a market share of about 15% with 3.5 million subscribers as of July 2021. The company operated alongside Telekom Romania Communications, which traces its origins back to ROM-POST-TELECOM, later renamed Romtelecom. Both companies were unified under the Telekom brand in 2014. On November 6, 2020, OTE agreed to sell a 54% stake in Telekom Romania Communications to Orange Romania. The transaction was completed in July 2021, but the mobile unit remained under OTE's control after a failed sale to Digi.

3G Network

Telekom Romania (then Cosmote) launched its 3G network in May 2008, initially offering speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. By September 2009, the network had been upgraded to HSPA+, providing speeds of up to 21 Mbps. The company further enhanced its 3G network by launching 42 Mbps DC-HSPA+ in Bucharest on July 9, 2012. However, the gradual closure of 3G networks began in 2022, with Telekom Mobile, along with other operators like Orange and RCS&RDS, phasing out 3G services to transition to more efficient 4G and 5G technologies.

    4G Network

Telekom Romania's 4G network development began with the acquisition of spectrum in various bands. In 2012, the company acquired one block in the 800 MHz band, two blocks in the 900 MHz band, five blocks in the 1800 MHz band, and two blocks in the 2.6 GHz band. Telekom Romania commercially launched its LTE1800 data service on April 29, 2013, in cities such as Bucharest, Otopeni, Ploiesti, Cluj, Iasi, Sinaia, Busteni, and Predeal. The theoretical peak downlink speed was 150 Mbps. The introduction of Band 20 in 2014 further enhanced coverage. By 2021, Telekom Romania had expanded its 4G network significantly, covering a majority of the population.

      5G Network

Telekom Romania entered the 5G market with a stealth launch using its existing spectrum holdings. The company did not participate in the 2022 auction of 5G spectrum held by ANCOM. Despite this, Telekom Romania officially launched its 5G network on June 21, 2023, making the service available in eleven cities, including Bucharest, Brasov, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Constanta, Ploiesti, Craiova, Pitesti, and Oradea. The network offered upload/download speeds of 250 Mbps/50 Mbps. The company aimed to provide 5G technology benefits affordably, whether on prepaid or subscription plans.
