Telenor Group, headquartered in Norway, is a majority state-owned multinational telecommunications company. It was founded in 1855 as Telegrafverket, a state-operated monopoly provider of telegraph services. The company underwent several transformations, including adopting the name Televerket in 1969 and becoming a public corporation named Norwegian Telecom in 1994. In 2000, Telenor was partially privatised and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, with the Government of Norway retaining a significant ownership stake.

Telenor operates extensively in Scandinavia and Asia, offering a wide range of telecommunication services, including mobile and fixed telephony, internet access, and cable TV. The company holds a strong position in the Scandinavian broadband and TV market and has expanded its operations to multiple countries in Asia. Telenor's shares are listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, and the Norwegian government remains its largest shareholder.
