3G Network

Telesur launched its 3G network under the TeleG brand in October 2011. The network utilised the UMTS B1 (2100 MHz) frequency band, which is widely used for third-generation wireless Universal Mobile Telecommunications System networks. Initially, the service was only available in the capital, Paramaribo, and several parts of the Nickerie, Commewijne, Wanica, and Para districts. In 2012, Telesur faced challenges with its 3G network, including poor internet connectivity and issues with making or receiving phone calls. These issues led to a re-launch of the 3G network later that year, resulting in improved service quality.

    4G Network

Telesur began offering 4G LTE services in 2016, using 15 MHz of 700 MHz and 20 MHz of 1800 MHz frequency bands (bands 3 and 28). This rollout marked a significant upgrade from previous technologies, allowing for faster data speeds and improved connectivity. The 4G network was primarily available in population centres, with limited reception in remote and less densely populated areas like the Sipaliwini District.

      5G Network

Telesur switched on its 5G network in downtown Paramaribo in December 2019. However, the company initially kept its 5G marketing low-key while deploying LTE-A upgrades in strategic locations to complement the offering. By November 2020, Telesur began promoting its 5G network with data tariffs, offering high-volume mobile data bundles for both 4G and 5G users. The commercial 5G network was primarily targeted at business customers using 5G modems, with specific data packages available for prepaid and postpaid users.
