Telecom Italia Mobile S.p.A., commonly known as TIM, is an Italian telecommunications company owned by Telecom Italia S.p.A. The company was initially established as a mobile telephony company in 1995 and since 2015, it has expanded its services to include mobile, fixed telephony, and internet services. The company's inception in the Italian mobile telephony market traces back to 1990 with the launch of the TACS network by the Telecom Italia Mobile Radio Services division.

In 1995, with a partial demerger from the parent company, Telecom Italia, TIM was born. The company was 63.01% controlled by STET, which was later incorporated into Telecom Italia in 1997. On 14 July of the same year, Telecom Italia Mobile S.p.A., a subsidiary of Telecom Italia S.p.A., was registered with the Court of Turin. Three days later, the company was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
