Bluetooth 5.0 represents a significant advancement in the series of Bluetooth core specifications. Introduced in 2016, it provides four times the range, two times the speed, and eight times the broadcasting message capacity of Bluetooth 4.2, which was its predecessor. Key features of Bluetooth 5.0 include increased bandwidth, longer range, and extended advertising capabilities. The increased bandwidth of up to 2 Mbps enhances the responsiveness of high-performance devices. The extended range allows for a connection of up to 200 metres in a clear line of sight, and around 40 metres in indoor settings. The extended advertising capabilities of Bluetooth 5.0 enable more data to be sent during the advertising phase, improving the efficiency of connections. This version also includes updates that help reduce potential interference with other wireless technologies, ensuring smoother and more reliable connections. In addition, Bluetooth 5.0 offers improved power efficiency.
