LTE Band 31 operates in the 450 MHz spectrum and is commonly referred to as the LTE 450 Brazil due to its initial implementation by Claro in Brazil. This band was the first 450 MHz LTE designation by the 3GPP. Its choice of frequency offers significant advantages for signal propagation, allowing for extended coverage areas and effective signal penetration.
Globally, the band has seen occasional deployment. Typically, operators using Band 31 opt for a 5 MHz carrier with a 2x2 MIMO configuration. This setup provides up to 37 Mb/s of channel capacity and can offer connectivity ranges extending beyond 100 kilometres. The band's ability to cover large areas makes it especially suitable for regions with vast terrains or where infrastructure is limited.
