Alias
TDD LTE over WiFi

Band 53 operates in the spectrum immediately adjacent to the commonly used 2.4 GHz WiFi band. Adopting a Time Division Duplexing (TDD) configuration, this band was introduced by the 3GPP in June 2019. Its establishment was primarily to accommodate the collaboration between Nokia and Globalstar. In the United States, Globalstar holds rights to this particular spectrum. This collaboration aimed at exploring new avenues for LTE deployments and maximising the use of available spectrum, especially in areas where standard 2.4 GHz WiFi bands are congested. The integration of LTE within this adjacent band allows for enhanced network performance and the potential for improved coexistence with traditional WiFi networks.
