LTE Band 87, operating at 410 MHz, is an FDD band introduced by 3GPP in Release 16.2. Specifically devised to align with the 400 MHz UHF band planning in the European Union, this band is titled the "PPDR PMR/PMAR in EU band." It caters to the specialized needs of the European Broadband Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) organizations. With support for a 5 MHz carrier in a 2x2 configuration, Band 87 can deliver up to 37 Mb/s of total channel capacity. Moreover, it boasts impressive connectivity capabilities, extending beyond 100 kilometres, making it invaluable for emergency and relief operations spanning large areas.
Band 87 is limited to a maximum 5 MHz channel size, the maximum practical due to the 450 MHz band's large wavelength.
The band was introduced by the 3GPP in April 2019.
