Alias
NTN 2 GHz,
MSS S-Band
Also known as the "NTN 2 GHz" band, this band utilises MSS S-Band spectrum for communication over Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs). With uplink frequencies from 1980 to 2010 MHz and downlink frequencies from 2170 to 2200 MHz, the n256 band allows network operators to provide coverage in remote areas using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations, delivering network connectivity where traditional infrastructure may be lacking. This band was also standardised in the 3GPP Release 17.0 in January 2021.
