Alias
850
A Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) band that is used in 5G New Radio (NR) networks, the n5 band has a central frequency around 850 MHz. This spectrum, originally used for 2G GSM and 3G UMTS, has been repurposed for 5G implementation in several regions, notably Telstra began refarming its 3G 850 MHz service into an NR850 service in 2023. Its lower frequency allows for better signal penetration and wider coverage, making it ideal for suburban and rural areas where population density is lower.
