Wi-Fi 2
802.11a, part of the "WiFi-2" standard adopted in 1999 operates in the 5 GHz frequency band and can deliver data rates up to 54 Mbps. It uses orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) which is more efficient and less susceptible to interference. The higher frequency has a shorter range than 2.4 GHz standards and has greater difficulty penetrating walls and other obstructions.
