Bharti Airtel Limited, commonly known as Airtel, is an Indian multinational telecommunications services company headquartered in New Delhi. The company was founded by Sunil Mittal in 1984. Initially, Bharti Telecom Limited (BTL) was involved in the assembly of push-button phones in collaboration with Siemens AG of Germany. In 1992, Bharti successfully bid for one of the four mobile phone network licenses auctioned in India, launching services under the brand name AirTel in 1995.

Bharti Airtel is currently the second-largest mobile network operator in India and the second-largest globally. The company operates in 18 countries across South Asia and Africa, providing services such as 5G, 4G, LTE Advanced, fixed-line broadband, and voice services. Airtel’s business model is notable for its strategic outsourcing of all operations except marketing, sales, and finance, a model that has been adopted by other telecom operators. The company's infrastructure is maintained by partners like Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia Networks, while IT support is provided by Amdocs.
