Algeria’s Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications (ARPT) awarded Mobilis licences to operate 4G services on the B3 (1800 MHz) band in September 2016. By 2018 Mobilis had received extended 1800 MHz licences permitting a 20 MHz channel.
In November 2018 Mobilis and technology partner Huawei Algerie showcased the results of its 4.5G testing, achieving peak data rates of 1.18 Gb/s. The two companies expect to complete modernisation of the Mobilis network in time for the 2021 Mediterranean Games.
