4G Network
Movilnet's journey into 4G technology began with the acquisition of spectrum in the AWS and 2500 MHz bands during a spectrum auction announced by President Nicolas Maduro on December 3, 2014. The auction raised over US$ 728 million, exceeding initial estimates. Movilnet commercially launched its 4G LTE network on 22 January 2017 using AWS spectrum with 221 base stations across 1,700 locations. The initial coverage included several states, such as the Distrito Capital, Miranda, Carabobo, and Zulia. The 4G service was branded as 4GMAX, operating in the 1700/2100 MHz (AWS) band.
