3G Network
The 3G network of MTS was launched on 21 December 2006 under the brand name Telekom Srbija (mt:s). Initially, the network offered speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps, which were later upgraded to 3.6 Mbps. On 29 July 2011, the company introduced 21 Mbps HSPA+ services, followed by a further upgrade to 42 Mbps DC-HSPA+ on 19 June 2012. The 3G services utilised the 2100 MHz band, with a decreased total bandwidth available in subsequent years due to spectrum reallocation.

4G Network
The introduction of the 4G network in Serbia began with a public bidding procedure in early 2015. The auction involved the allocation of spectrum in the 1710-1785 MHz and 1805-1880 MHz frequency bands. MTS Serbia, along with other mobile operators, was awarded two 5 MHz blocks each in March 2015, paving the way for the launch of 4G services. The commercial rollout of the 4G network commenced in April 2015, offering improved coverage and faster internet speeds. By 2016, the 4G network had expanded to cover over 90% of the Serbian population. The network utilized LTE technology in the 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz bands, providing enhanced connectivity and supporting a wide range of digital services.

5G Network
The journey towards 5G in Serbia began with the initiation of spectrum allocation auctions in early 2021. The Serbian government adopted a strategy for the development of the electronic communications system on 8 August 2024, outlining the timeline for the 5G rollout. The auction for frequency allocation is slated for late 2025, with the deployment of the 5G network expected to commence in 2026. The initial phase aims to cover 10% of the country, with full coverage anticipated by 2027. As of December 2024, MTS Serbia has not yet launched commercial 5G services, but the groundwork is being laid for the introduction of next-generation mobile networks, promising faster speeds and improved connectivity.
