Smart is a telecommunications company operating in Cambodia. The company was established in February 2009 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Axiata Group Berhad, one of Asia’s largest telecommunications groups. Smart was the first network to introduce 4G LTE in 2014 and currently serves over 8 million subscribers under the “Smart” brand.

3G Network

The company has provided standard 2G GSM services over 900 MHz, and since May 2009, 3G UMTS over B1 (2100 MHz) up to 21 Mbps DL data rate using HSPA+. The network was shut down in 2021.

    4G Network

    In January 2014, Smart launched its 4G LTE network over the B3 (1800 MHz) band to become the first mobile operator in Cambodia to provide true 4G services. In September 2016, Smart launched '4G+' LTE Advanced using Carrier Aggregation advising data rates up to 200 Mbps, aggregating with a B1 (2100 MHz) LTE service.

    In August 2017 the company announced LTE-A network upgrades supporting peak data rates of up to 600 Mbps through 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM modulation.
