Telenor Sweden is a subsidiary of Telenor ASA, a Norwegian majority state-owned multinational telecommunications company. The parent company, Telenor ASA, was established in 1855 as a state-operated monopoly provider of telegraph services named Telegrafverket. It transitioned into telephone services in 1878 and eventually into mobile operations in the late 1990s. Telenor Sweden specifically came into existence in 2005 when Telenor ASA acquired Vodafone Sweden. The Norwegian government holds a significant stake in Telenor ASA.

3G Network

The company launched its 3G network in June 2007 over the B1 (2100 MHz) band. The network was upgraded to HSPA+ in November 2011 and DC-HSPA+ in May 2011. The network shutdown date was scheduled for years-end 2025.

    4G Network

    Telenor partnered with Tele2 and deployed a joint LTE network through a JV company "Net4Mobility". The network was launched in November 2010 using B7 (2600 MHz) and B8 (900 MHz). The network was quickly enhanced with the addition of B20 in March 2011 and B3 in January 2013.

      5G Network

      The company launched its 5G network through its RAN-sharing agreement with Tele2 in May 2020. The network used 100 MHz of n78 (3500 MHz).
