Tigo is the third largest mobile network operating in Colombia, founded in 2002. The company merged with competitor Une (Une EPM Telecomunicaciones S.A. E.S.P.) in August 2014 to strengthen its position against competitors. Tigo is a fully owned subsidiary of Millicom (Millicom International Cellular SA), a NASDAQ listed mobile operator specialising in emerging markets.
3G Network
Tigo previously provided 2G GSM services over the 1900 MHz band since November 2003. The company launched its 3G network over B1 (2100 MHz) in October 2008, and upgraded to HSPA+ in October 2011 supporting data rates up to 21 Mbps.

4G Network
4G LTE was activated in December 2012 over the B4 (1700 MHz) AWS band. Following the merger with Une, Tigo acquired Une's B7 (2600 MHz) LTE network. The company's 4G network was upgraded in April 2018 to LTE-A, providing peak data rates up to 230 Mbps using 2C carrier aggregation.
