We Telecom Egypt is a primary telecommunications company in Egypt, originating from the first telegraph line established in the country in 1854. The company, initially called the Arab Republic of Egypt National Telecommunication Organization (ARENTO), was renamed to Telecom Egypt in 1998. It is a joint stock company, with the government maintaining full ownership. In 2001, Telecom Egypt established TE Data, its data communications and ISP arm, and also began acquiring shares in Vodafone Egypt, eventually owning 44.95% of the company. In 2017, Telecom Egypt launched its mobile service, branded as WE. The company's main operational offices are located in various Egyptian cities including Cairo, Al Mansurah, Ismailia, Alexandria, Suez, and Tanta.

4G Network

The company commercially launch its LTE-only mobile network in September 2017 over a 5 MHz channel in the B3 (1800 MHz) band. No 2G or 3G services are provided by Telecom Egypt. The company has also piloted 4G LTE with 4x4 MIMO on a 20 MHz carrier, achieving 240 Mbps.

The network was upgraded with the addition of B28 and B41 carriers.
