Malawi, located in south-eastern Africa, is a landlocked country with a diverse geography comprising highlands, plateaus, and valleys. The country's population of approximately 20 million is unevenly distributed, with a higher concentration in rural areas, complicating the provision of comprehensive services. Malawi is divided into three administrative regions: Northern, Central, and Southern, each with its unique set of infrastructural needs and challenges. While the telecommunications sector has seen significant growth, it is still relatively underdeveloped. Mobile penetration is low compared to other African countries, and internet access is largely confined to urban areas. Innovative solutions such as solar-powered mobile towers are being explored to overcome some of these constraints. The country's energy sector remains dependent on biomass, but there is a growing interest in renewable sources, such as solar and wind energy, albeit at a nascent stage. The technology sector, particularly information technology, is still in the early stages of development.
