Oman, located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, has a diverse geography that ranges from rugged mountains and desert terrain to coastal plains. This vast topography influences the distribution of the country's 4.5 million residents, with a majority inhabiting urban areas like the capital, Muscat, and a smaller number residing in remote regions. In terms of telecommunications, Oman's sector is considered advanced in the Middle Eastern region, with numerous mobile and fixed-line operators offering 4G-5G and fibre-optic broadband services. Recently, Oman has seen significant progress in implementing digital solutions, such as e-government services and smart city initiatives. The country's renewable energy sector, particularly solar and wind, is still at an early stage of development, but potential is recognised due to Oman's favourable climatic conditions. Infrastructure, while robust in urban areas, can be a challenge in more remote regions, leading to innovative solutions like LEO satellite connectivity and renewable-powered telecommunication towers.
