Alias
800 DD
3GPP Band 20, known as "800 DD" (Digital Dividend), was a 3G band in Europe, Canada, and parts of Asia. As a Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) band, it operates with cell towers transmitting on 791 to 821 MHz and receiving on 832 to 862 MHz, however it is important to note the reverse duplexing when compared to other frequency bands.
This band's adoption was largely driven by the re-allocation of frequencies originally used for analogue television, known as the digital dividend. Band 20's lower frequency provides excellent coverage and building penetration, making it well-suited for rural areas and for penetrating urban structures. The coverage can extend up to 30 kilometres, offering a broad reach with fewer base stations.
