3G Network

Digicel PNG launched its 3G network in May 2011, utilising the UMTS band 8 (900 MHz GSM) frequency.     4G Network

    The March 2014 rollout of the 4G network marked a significant advancement in Digicel PNG's service offerings. The company launched its 4G LTE network using the LTE B28 (700 MHz APT) frequency band, which is part of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity band plan. Over the years, the network expanded significantly, with Digicel PNG building 115 new mobile towers and upgrading 96 towers to 4G LTE by 2024. This expansion resulted in a 20% increase in 4G LTE coverage, allowing the network to cover over 80% of the population, including rural and urban areas.
