Rogers Wireless is the largest mobile carrier operating in Canada. The company was founded in 1960 by Canadian businessman Ted Rogers and became a mobile carrier in 1986 with the acquisition of Cantel, Canada's then sole national provider of cellular mobile services. 3G Network

The company has operated 2G over 850 and 1900 MHz frequencies, and 3G UMTS over B2 (1900 MHz) and B5 (850 MHz) since November 2006, with HSPA+ data services since September 2009. Roger's B2 carrier was sunset in 2021.

    4G Network

In July 2011 Rogers was the first company to deploy LTE services, which launched over B4 (1700 MHz), and later added B7 (2600 MHz) in May 2013. To provide long range coverage Rogers added B12 and B17 (700 MHz) LTE in April 2014 - noting however that B17 is a sub-band of B12 so the two are broadcast as the one transmission.

The company made a first for Canada by deploying LTE-A in October 2014, using 2C carrier aggregation to provide data rates of up to 225 Mbps. Carrier aggregation is used to combine 10 MHz of B4 and 20 MHz of B7 spectrum. VoLTE HD voice service was commercially launched across Canada in March 2015.

In April 2018 Rogers announced partnership with Ericsson to continue deploying 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM LTE-A Pro, along with upgrading to 4C carrier aggregation.

Low-band B71 (600 MHz) was added in October 2020, along with B2 and B5 carriers following the progressive refarming of 3G bands.
