It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CK Hutchison Holdings, a multinational conglomerate based in Hong Kong. CK Hutchison Holdings owns direct majority interests in several networks through 3 Group Europe, including Three Austria. Three Ireland (3) is a national telecommunications service provider and mobile network operator in Ireland. The company was founded in 1996, then known as Esat Digifone. Esat Digifone was very quickly acquired by O2 Plc, becoming O2 Ireland in 1997. The O2 brand remained until 2006 when Spanish telecoms giant Telefónica acquired the company. Telefónica Ireland was itself acquired by CK Hutchison's Hutchison Whampoa arm in June 2013. The rebranding process was completed in March 2015.




Tigo Bolivia, a subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular SA, operates under the umbrella of a Luxembourg-based telecommunications services provider. Millicom operates in nine Latin American markets, including Bolivia, under the Tigo and Tigo Business brands, offering a variety of digital services. Telefónica Celular de Bolivia commenced operations in November 1990 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, branded then as Telecel. In 2005, Telecel was acquired by Tigo and the company subsequently rebranded to the new parent. Tigo stands today as the second-largest mobile network in Bolivia.

Tigo is the third largest mobile network operating in Colombia, founded in 2002. The company merged with competitor Une (Une EPM Telecomunicaciones S.A. E.S.P.) in August 2014 to strengthen its position against competitors. Tigo Guatemala, originally known as Comunicaciones Celulares, S.A. or COMCEL, is a mobile phone service provider operating in Guatemala. It was established under the ownership of the international mobile phone company Millicom. In 2004, COMCEL underwent a rebranding, changing its name to TIGO and introducing their GSM Technology. Tigo Guatemala is the largest Tigo subsidiary in Central America, boasting a customer base of over 8 million subscribers. In 2008, TIGO launched their 3.5G data network, operating on the 850 MHz band, marking it as the only 3.5G network in Guatemala at the time.

Tigo Honduras is a telecommunications network operating in Honduras. Founded in 1996, today it is a subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular SA, a Luxembourg-based telecommunication service provider known for its fixed line and mobile services in Latin America.
